At Orange Chair Design Lab, we believe design is a powerful tool for impact. Guided by our tagline, “students designing for good,” our program teaches middle and high school students the fundamentals of graphic design while giving them meaningful opportunities to apply their skills in the real world. Students learn core principles like typography, layout, color theory, branding, and visual storytelling as they design across a variety of mediums—including posters, stickers, T-shirts, and other marketing swag.
What makes Orange Chair Design Lab unique is our partnership with nonprofit organizations. Students collaborate on marketing materials for real-world clients, gaining hands-on experience that builds both confidence and a professional-quality portfolio. These projects allow young designers to see how their creativity can support causes that matter—while developing practical skills in communication, collaboration, and client-based work.
For our middle and high school students, participation in nonprofit design projects also earns volunteer hour credit, making their creative contributions even more meaningful. At Orange Chair Design Lab, students don’t just learn how to design—they learn how to use design to make a difference.
